71 School buses challaned for violating Safe Vahan Policy
Ferozepur, April 16, 2024: Under the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and as per the directives of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, the District Child Protection Unit Ferozepur working under the able leadership of the District Program Officer Karan Brar jointly with the support of the task force team members. Weekly checking of various school vehicles was done under the school vehicle policy. On this occasion, challans of 71 school vehicles that did not meet the requirements of the Safe School Vehicle Policy were deducted.
Earlier also, 40 challans were issued on April 2, for violation of norms under the Safe School Vahan Policy.
On this occasion, DSP (HQ) Bhupinder Singh Bhullar made it clear to the drivers of the school vehicles that the vehicles that do not meet the conditions of the Safe School Vahan Policy will not be spared and due legal action will be taken. From time to time, the District Child Protection Office issues instructions to school principals and school vehicle drivers are being given, about safe school vehicle policies such as CCTV cameras, an iron grill on windows, a first aid box, a lady conductor etc. Apart from this, school vehicle drivers should also have complete vehicle documents so that they do not face any kind of problems. Only through good protection of children, we can hope for a good future, he added.
On this occasion, District Traffic Incharge Sub Inspector Paramjit Singh, Satnam Singh from the District Child Protection Unit, Harmeet Singh from the Regional Transport Authority Office, Nirdosh Kumar from Punjab Roadways, and Deepak Sharma from the Education Department were present.
